Customer Rating: Summary: Great Little Heater Comment: When we finished off part of our basement as a nice utility room (12 x 20) we also decided to use it as a spare bedroom if needed. Problem was -- its generally 10 - 15 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. Great for summertime to escape the heat but not good for sleeping during the winter even though the temperature where we live in Northern CA. is generally moderate. We considered baseboard heating but the cost of the heaters and installation was in the $1,000.00 range. It seems that any baseboard heater over 3 ft is 220, requires a separate circuit and professional installation.
I then decided to look for a space heater. When I found this heater for $89.00, which was highly rated by Consumer Reports, I said 'what the heck', at this price if it doesn't do the job, I'll use it in my Attic workshop. When we know we'll have guests sleeping over, we turn it on in the morning when we blow up the Air Bed. By early afternoon it's nice and cozy and we set the thermostatic control to maintain the temperature. Works great! It's really quiet. If you don't listen closely you can't tell if the fan is on.
I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and sit it on our patio for first use for about 4 hours. The initial burnoff odor would have been pretty obnoxious indoors. I'm glad I remembered to do this. Even though the instructions recommend doing it, who reads through all of the instructions before use?
It's light weight and mobile. Great little fan.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works well but sucks power and ..... Comment: The Delonghi HHP 1500 radiator works well but it sucks power. Can use up to 1500 watts!. Also what they don't tell you in the ads is that you have to plug it in to its OWN outlet/circuit and can't use an extension cord of power strip. It kind of makes it so you have to reallt plan where to put it.
Customer Rating: Summary: works as advertised Comment: Even comfortable heat for a 19'by 13' poorly insulated room, with several windows.Heats better than the 220v baseboard unit and the electric meter spins slower.Quiet and portable.
Customer Rating: Summary: DeLonghi Heater Comment: this is a very good room heater. It does take a while to warm up the entire room, but once it has time to work, it easily holds the temperature at a comfortable level.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good one Comment: If you are interested in a quiet radiant heater, this may be a good one for you to consider. I set it up in my office, a room that is 18x16 feet and it heated up the room nicely. It does take more time for this type of heater to heat up a room than a fanned heater would, but the peace and quiet is worth it to me. I've got mine set up on a timer to turn it on and off automatically (it's so quiet, I forget it is there!). This heater is also portable and I do move it around the house when I know I'll be sitting somewhere for a period of time.
I do like the product enough to order a second one. From my perspective, the only thing missing on this heater is a small quiet fan (perhaps one that is powered by the heat itself!), plus a built in timer.
