Summary: It works with some cable wiggling
Comment: This larger than expected device is not perfect, I have to wiggle the switch and cables to establish a connection that doesn't crackle or turn on/off continuously. But once I have a good connection, it sounds fine and DTS/Dolby works. With all the cables plugged in, it also a little unsightly since you need to be able to get to the switch. For 10 dollars it beats pulling out the components and manually switching cables, but don't expect perfection.

Summary: Bigger than I expected but preforms well
Comment: I have an older receiver and this allows me to get 3 optical devices hooked up to 1 port on the receiver. All you have to do is move the switch to change the input. I have been very pleased. For the price this thing is great. The sound quality is just as good as if the devises were plugged directly into the receiver. As stated it is larger than I expected but that actually helps when making the switch, you just push the button and slide the handle around to the new input.
I would defiantly recommend.
One note: I only have a DVD player and a cable box plugged in to this, I have seen on some other reviews issues with game consoles, I can not speak to that.

Comment: I also bought this item based on the multiple positive reviews; however, I've found that it just doesn't work with my MacBook Pro. It works fine with the XBox 360, so I'm assuming it's based upon device signal output strength. As for manufacturing quality, it does feel cheap but then it is cheap so that shouldn't be seen as an unexpected limitation.

Comment: I purchased this switch to allow me to use the single optical output from my dvd player to feed both my headphone setup, and my surround sound speakers. I tried several other products, and none worked well. I almost gave up on a good optical splitter, until I found the Nyrius SW100. This product works very well. Basically, it will allow you to either split a single source and send it to up to 3 different receivers (e.g. headphone dac/amp, surround sound receiver, computer) OR feed a single receiver with three different sources (e.g. Playstation 3, DVD player, laptop digital audio out).
It's inexpensive, feels well made, and works without a hitch.
Also note that this product does not require a power supply.

Comment: Like most of the other reviews we had the same problems switching... In our case we have 3 inputs that needed to be ran thru our JVC HD 7.1 system... We leave everything on DVD input on the amp and just flip the switch for our other inputs....
This unit is better than the others that are out on the market!! GET IT!!

This 3-Way Digital Optical Selector Switch lets you connect up to three different optical digital components to a component with only one optical digital input. The selector allows you to switch from one component to another just by turning the selector dial no more disconnecting and connecting cables or moving equipment around. You can play any of the three components you connect and enjoy the output through your home theater system.
There are four optical digital jacks. The output jack connects to the main unit to which you would like to expand the number of optical jacks (normally a digital audio/video receiver/amplifier). The three input jacks connect to the source devices and allow you to output digital audio to your main unit.
